OVERVIEW: I designed these posters for "7th Cycle," a haunting indie film about two British-Bangladeshi sisters dealing with grief, regret, and family dynamics. The story follows Mounika, who finds herself trapped in a strange otherworld with her deceased sister Urmi, working through seven chances to confront the guilt that's been eating at her. The blue-heavy color scheme felt right for the film's dreamlike, underwater vibe, while keeping things grounded in the real emotional weight these characters carry. I focused on close-up portraits because this story is really about the intimate moments between sisters—all that unspoken tension and love. The typography needed to feel both contemporary and respectful of the cultural elements without being heavy-handed about it.
What drew me to this project was how it tackles universal themes like family guilt and forgiveness through this really specific cultural lens. It's the kind of story that stays with you, and I wanted the posters to hint at that complexity—the supernatural elements, sure, but also the very human heart of it all. This project pushed me to think about how design can honor both the artistic vision and cultural authenticity of independent filmmaking.
